The marula tree originates from Africa. It is the symbol of friendship in some places.
When cooked, the fruit can be turned into jam, juices, jelly but also Amarula liqueur.
That’s not all, the skin of the fruit can be dried, burned and turned into coffee!
Fun fact: The marula tree has a sex. Yup, this means that only the female will bear both fruits and flowers, while the male can only bloom. This is called dioecious!
Referred to as a “luxury” oil by some, this antioxidant-rich oil is obtained from the kernels of the fruits of Marula tree.
